Consultancy consolidates its virtualisation experience and forms partnership with VMware.

Andy Archer, Principle Consultant of Falkirk, UK, based IT virtualisation specialists, AV Archer, has been recognised by market leaders VMware for his expertise in IT virtualisation with the award of “VMware Authorised Consultant” status. AV Archer is the first wholly Scottish based organisation to gain this accreditation.

Virtualisation is increasingly recognised by IT professionals as an efficient way to optimise existing hardware by using specialised software to run multiple operating systems and applications on the same server or computer at the same time. This increases the utilisation of existing IT infrastructure and therefore reduces capital requirements (e.g. the price of new servers) and running costs (the cost to run and manage them). Virtualisation also protects organisations from planned or unplanned service outages as entire virtual environments can be migrated or backed up with no interruption to service. California based VMware only awards Authorised Consultant status after rigorous testing; indeed it has taken Andy Archer more than two years to complete the process.
