| Virtualisation
benefits are delivered in VDI
Homogenous Virtual Hardware
All Virtual Machines use the same virtual hardware. One base
image can be used for many different VMs –driver management
is greatly simplified.
Templates can be created to aid rapid deployment of new Virtual
Machines.
VDI is Virtual Infrastructure
VMware vSphere comprising ESX 4 Servers and vCenter are are good examples of core components of a
Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).
Virtualized Server and Desktop spaces can co-exist, and benefit
from, the same hardware, architecture, and infrastructure.
Virtual desktops can benefit from the same Automatic Load-Balancing
and High Availability features such as those delivered by VMware HA, DRS,
Fault Tolerance and VMotion.
